DUI and Drivers License Checkpoints in Marin County
Police will be deploying DUI saturation patrols throughout Marin County and supporting routine DUI patrols on Cinco De Mayo starting at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012. The Police Departments in Marin typically operate three DUI checkpoints over Christmas through New Year’s, one checkpoint for Memorial Day and one for Labor Day weekends throughout the County. Checkpoints usually last 4 – 6 hours and end between midnight and 2am.
During the month of April the San Rafael police department is conducting a Distracted Driving Awareness campaign. As such Police officers will be offering “zero tolerance” to those texting or operating hand-held cell phones between April 3rd and April 18th. During the St. Patrick’s day weekend, sixty five traffic stops were made resulting in sixteen field sobriety tests being administered. Four drivers were arrested for driving under the influence. The blood alcohol level for two of the arrested drivers was .18 and .24. This is two and three times the legal limit of .08 BAL. [...]
